Rhet

What a great service this Easter morning. The highlight for me was seeing six people baptized. One young man (Rhet) was especially meaningful to me. Rhet “visited” our church for the first time about a month ago. His visit was a little unusual in that Rhet and his girlfriend were homeless and they slept under a covered space at our church. They came into the church during Sunday School to use the bathroom and some people offered them coffee and invited them to stick around for church. After church I talked with Rhet and he said, “People are so friendly here, I think we are going to sleep here every Saturday night and come to church in the morning.” Sure enough, the next Sunday Rhet showed up. A couple guys in our church took an interest in him. One took him out to lunch and got him some clothes and boots. Another offered him a job. Rhet found a place to live and is no longer homeless. Today he was baptized and expressed his appreciation to God for all that He had done. I couldn’t be prouder of our church and those who chose to share the love of Jesus in very practical ways to this young man in need.
