Fresh Snow

Sometimes I am guilty of over-simplifying dynamic Christian concepts. I want to say to people, “You need God.” or “You need come to church.”. For me, there are a multitude of beneficial things wrapped up in the words “God” and “Church” but that is not the case for many who haven’t experienced either. So when I have an insight or an illustration that comes to mind that describes one of the benefits of God or church I get excited. image
Here is one that came to mind yesterday. Tell me what you think.
We start life kind of like a untouched snowy field; beautiful and pristine. But over time because of our choices or the choices of those around us, our field gets trampled, dirtied, and grass starts poking through. Maybe someone even takes a 4 × 4 and does cookies in it. We look at our life, and it is a mess. What we were, and what we were meant to be, seem almost unrecognizable. But God wants to restore us to that original snowy field and it is not as hopeless or even as lengthy of process as we might imagine. Just as a fresh snow can cover all the marks in a field overnight, so God’s influence can fall from heaven restoring our life to what it once was or what it was meant to be. The amazing part to me is how fast it can happen!
