Refreshed through camping.

I took my two youngest kids camping for a couple of nights last week over at Honeyman State Park on the coast. My wife and oldest had to stay home. I like camping because everything seems to slow down when you camp. You have to be deliberate or put effort into things that you normally just take for granted when your camping. Going to the bathroom required a hike. Cooking and cleaning is a lengthier process than at home. A container was required to carry water from the faucet across the road. But putting effort into all those things that are so easy at home was restful for me. It clears the mind. It makes life simpler. And of course spending time with your family gives you time to reconnect. I enjoyed my couple of days. I hope you all will have a great restful vacation over the summer.

We were at Honeyman this week too. It is always nice to get away, and there is really something about the idea of slowing your life - providing space for the restoration of body, mind and spirit - which brings value and perspective to life.

Yeah, sometimes when you do something that requires more effort than usual it clears your mind and rests. Sometimes though it is hard to remember to rest and even to want to rest but I have to remember that you need physical, emotional, and spirtual rest to keep me going and to keep me connected with God.

I went camping this weekend too!! I went to South Twin on the Cascade Lakes Hwy, it is sooooo beautiful up there.  Sometimes it is nice to get out into nature and experiance all that God has created.  We spent time as a family with out distractions such as the phone(which didn’t get service smile) TV, Internet etc.. it was such quality time, I didn’t want to leave. It was really nice that we didn’t get cell coverage because we couldn’t be bothered HAHA!!!
We are so blessed to live in this beautiful state.

We, along with other churchmembers, spent the weekend at Richardson Park! So much fun! How long has it been since you sat around a campfire and shared great conversation and laughter with people you love!  “Laughter doeth good like a medicine” It is so true.  The Lord really knew what He was talking about!  (- :
